 Audrey J. Slade, Ph.D.

Dr. Audrey Jenkins Slade is a 1970 graduate of Bennett College (BA) and 1985 graduate of Boston University (EdM). A firm believer in continuing education, she completed her doctoral degree in Biblical Counseling with distinction from Trinity College of the Bible and theological Seminary, Newburg Indiana in 2015. Dr. Slade is a lay biblical counselor who works with individuals and couples who seek a biblical solution to their problems. She previously served as an adjunct professor at National Bible College, Fort Washington, MD, currently volunteers as a lay counselor at the Forestville Pregnancy Center at Marlow Heights, and is an active member of the First Baptist Church of Glenarden, Maryland.

Married to a career military officer, she traveled extensively.

 

Her earlier professional experiences include GED teacher, Schofield Barracks, HI and Fort Bragg, NC; Social Studies teacher, E.E. Smith High School, Fayetteville, NC; Family Program Coordinator, Heidelberg Germany; Supervisor of Counseling, Woodlawn Job Corps Center, Laurel, MD; Director Child Development Center II, Fort Meade, MD and owner/operator Parcel Plus a mail, transportation and business support franchise for several years in Upper Marlboro, MD.

She is married to Colonel Retired Jimmie L. Slade. They have been married for 49 years and are the proud parents of two adult daughters and five grandchildren. Her guiding Scripture is Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”

The mother of Belle Rhonda L Slade ’91 and grandmother of Belle Amber P. McGill’2016 we are not only forever linked by blood, but are also tied together as Bennett sisters. Our family values, which include faith in and obedience to God, mutual respect, educational advancement, serving others, and excellence in all endeavors were enhanced by our time at Bennett College.
