Ms. Mathis spends a vast majority of her time mentoring and volunteering at schools, shelters, and juvenile faculties. In 2018, Ms. Mathis was a Prince George's County 40 under 40 award recipient in the field of Public Service.

A Detroit native, Ms. Mathis is no stranger to hard work. After being diagnosed in college with several disabilities, she became a mental health advocate and motivational speaker. Ms. Mathis uses her platform to share her personal testimony of how she transitioned from tragedy to triumph. In hopes of inspiring others, Ms. Mathis shares how despite her disorders, being rejected from several law schools, and failing the bar exam five times, she is now an Attorney. Ms. Mathis is passionate about giving back to her community and helping others prevail in the face of adversity.
