Dr. Daria Valentine

Dr. Daria N. Valentine currently serves as the Principal of Greenbelt Middle School in Prince George’s County Public Schools.  An 18-year veteran of Prince George’s County Public Schools, Daria has been a middle school math and science teacher, science instructional coach, science instructional specialist and formerly the Assistant Principal to the Largo High School.  As the science instructional specialist, she supervised Curriculum writing for K-12 Science courses throughout Prince George’s County Public Schools. Dr. Valentine is most proud of her time at Largo High School, successfully graduating the class of 2017 with a 6% graduation rate increase from the previous class year as well as increasing the number of students accepted and attending college from the previous class year.

 

Dr. Valentine serves her community through a variety of organizations, The National Alumnae Association of Spelman College.  She is a former president of the Southern MD Chapter, raising over $15,000 in scholarships for new and returning Spelman College Students.  Daria is the current Assistant Corresponding Secretary and the immediate past, NE Regional Secretary.  She consistently volunteers her time to chaperone her chapters Annual HBCU Bus Tour and volunteers at local College Fairs recruiting students who are interested in choosing to change the world by attending Spelman College.  Dr. Valentine is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Iota Gamma Omega Chapter as the new HBCU for Life Chairman promoting and marketing Historically Black Colleges and Universities and encouraging students to attend HBCUs as a sustainability measure. 

 

Dr. Valentine was born in Silver Spring, Maryland to Earl and Dorine Miller.  She was raised with one sister in Oxon Hill, MD.  Daria is a proud product of Prince George’s County Public Schools, graduating from Suitland High School’s International Baccalaureate Program.  Daria earned a Bachelor’s of Science from Spelman College, Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the National Louis University and a Doctorate in Education Administration from The George Washington University, dissertation publication titled “How Parents Make School Choice Decisions”.  Daria is the proud wife of Curtis C. Valentine and proud mother of 10 yr old Curtis and 8 yr old Ivy Valentine.
