Ms. Tracey Spivey-White’s 26 year career in education began well before she entered college. As a little girl, she would line her dolls in a row and pretend they were students in her classroom. She discovered she loved teaching and impacting the lives of children. Her love for learning led her to a career in education. After graduation from North Carolina Central University in 1992, she was recruited to teach in Prince George’s County Public Schools as a Montessori Teacher. In fact, Ms. Spivey-White was the first African-American within PGCPS to be trained in the Montessori curriculum.

After serving as a classroom teacher, she held various leadership positions within the PGC School System. Prior to joining Judith P. Hoyer Montessori in 2012, she served as a program coordinator at Robert Goddard Montessori, a middle school administrator at Isaac J. Gourdine Middle School and a Regional Academic Facilitator for Imagine Schools of Prince George's County.

Ms. Spivey-White is a compassionate educator with a gift for inspiring others. She joined the Judith P. Hoyer family on July 1, 2012, combining her unique academic experiences and business experiences toward the continued excellence in their Montessori Program.

Under the direction of Ms. Spivey-White, Judith P. Hoyer has become a Maryland Green School, constructed an outdoor classroom, established a peace committee, expanded after school enrichment programs and learning opportunities, and embraced arts integration. Her enthusiasm for her school community spills over to her staff and its PTSA as they’ve worked together to win awards, including over $15,000 in cash and prizes as the winner of the Washington Redskins Annual Draft Day Dash (2016 and 2017). In February 2018, Ms. Spivey-White was nominated for the Washington Post Principal of the Year Award.

Ms. Spivey-White received a BA in History Education from North Carolina Central University, her Montessori Credential from North Carolina Center for Montessori Teacher Education and an MSA degree in Educational Leadership from Trinity University.

Ms. Spivey-White is a lifetime member of the NCCU National Alumni Association and an active member of the Metro DC NCCU Alumni Chapter. She is also a former Ms. Alumni NCCU. She works diligently to support the chapter’s scholarship fundraisers, she serves on planning committees and she supports our community service projects. Originally from Queens, NY, Ms. Spivey-White now resides in Upper Marlboro, MD.
