Kerstin Roper
Kerstin Roper is a proven leader with demonstrated expertise in change management and multigenerational workforce development. As a third culture HBCU graduate, she is a dynamic voice at a time when workforce development, diversity and inclusion, and the role of civil society need a fresh approach. Kerstin is the Assistant Director in the Bureau of Consular Affairs at the US Department of State. In her role, she manages operations at the agency responsible for facilitating legitimate official travel for American citizens. She fulfills her personal desire to share the gifts of global travel with the populace and expose the world to America's best export: its people. Kerstin Roper continued a multi-generational family tradition by graduating from an HBCU. After graduating from Spelman College with a degree in political science, Kerstin pursued graduate studies at SAIS Johns Hopkins and Virginia Polytechnic Universities in international and public affairs.
This year, she continues her professional development by participating in a federal senior executive program. She is also pursuing a coaching and professional speaking certification. Her varied leadership roles in and outside the office help her share her love of HBCUs and the unique experience they provide people of color. Specifically, her efforts support professional development at every career stage. Every day, Kerstin combines what she loves: learning, coaching, public service, and travel.
